In
Reading, we will be
finishing up Theme 3 and then start on Theme 4,
On The Farm.
We will still be working on letters Ii, Gg and Ff and words
come, here and this. We will be concentrating on reading three
letter words with short middle sounds of a and i. We will work on
writing sentences with a capital letter at the beginning. Rhyming will
be a focus this month and we will be reading simple nursery rhymes.
Phoneme isolation will be covered. Games you can play at home include
Name that Sound. Name a word, pig, ask child to repeat the word and
then give you the beginning sound immediately. You say pig, child says pig
/p/. Say three words to the child pencil, pole, crayon ask the child
to name only the two that rhyme. Put together words from word families
at, an, ap. |

Our
Math
will continue with locating, comparing, identifying and writing numerals on
a given number line. Children should be solid on recognizing numerals
0 - 5 and be able to place them on a number line. Chapter 4
Exploring Numbers 6 - 10 consists of the same concepts as Chapter 3
except with bigger numbers. You can help by making flashcards for
numerals 0 - 10. Your child should recognize the numerals and be able
to match them with the correct amount. Continue to use the words more
than, less than, fewer than, most, least, fewest and equal to. We will
continue to use number lines for 0 - 10 |
