Kindergarten Awards Assembly  at 8:15

I will notify you if your child is receiving a special award.

This is the last week of school and most of it is spent on cleaning up the play areas and packing stuff away.  There may be a couple of final assessments for children who are riding the wire on meeting successful promotion.  Please take the time this summer to review the kindergarten work list as it is reviewed the first few weeks of first grade.  Below I have included the first theme of first grade words.  Any of these that your child learns during the summer will make them feel successful right from the first day of the next school year.

Math in the first grade starts out with a bang.  Your child will be expected to recognize 0 - 20 and the program begins right away with addition and subtraction.

Please accept my sincerest thanks for sharing your child with me this year.  It is hard to believe just how much they have learned as well as their physical changes.  I appreciate all of your help and cooperation through out the year.  I especially thank Mr. and Mrs. Vickers for adopting our classroom and perhaps in your travels around the county this summer you might come across a business that would be willing to participate in the classroom adoption next year.  As the budgets get tighter and tighter, teachers reach into their pockets more and more so that any extra help is greatly appreciated.  I wish you all a great summer and hope you get a chance to get away and relax.

To all my students, have fun this summer, study your words and read all the books you can.  I love you and want you to be the smartest kids in the whole first grade.  I will be looking for you everywhere I go!

The first 22 words are expected to be mastered in the first unit upon entering first grade.  The rest of the words are from the Dolch list and they are the most frequent words found in both kindergarten and first grade books.  Print out the list and put the words on index cards.  Use them as flash cards or arrange the word cards to build sentences.  Learning all or some of these words over the summer will give your child an extra jump towards success in first grade
