In
Reading,
we will be working in Theme 6 and review all letters and sounds of the
alphabet. We will review words for, here, this, one, you, look, me,
what, where, two, and see. We will introduce new words: up, down,
we, want, out, who, are and they. Skills for the month
will include identifying middle sounds, discriminating between reality and
fantasy, blending, segmenting, word building with word families et, ed, eg,
en, identifying beginning, middle and end of stories, the setting, main
characters and main idea of the story. Books for this them include:

We have begun
Chapter6 Exploring Numbers 10 - 30 . Our objectives for this
chapter include recognizing teen numbers, and understanding tens units. Go

reinforce vocabulary, concepts, and skills. We are continuing to count
to 100 by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. |

Science
for the month of February will focus on living and non-living things,
healthy teeth and healthy bodies. We will emphasize the importance of
exercise and eating healthy to maintain a healthy heart. We will be
preparing to go to the Environmental Studies Center. We will learn
about sea turtles, the Atlantic Ocean, and ocean life in general. |

Social Studies
we will learn about Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and President's day.
We will talk about American symbols. We will make a book of symbols
that stand for freedom, democracy and America. We will also make a
booklet about famous black Americans to honor February as Black History
Month. February is also Dental Health month so you can see that we
will be very busy this month. |
