![]() In Reading, we be working on Theme 5, The first lesson is What is Weather? New letters to be introduced are Bb, Kk, and Oo. The new words are: me and for. Books to be read for this unit include "What Will the Weather Be Like Today?" by Paul Rogers, "Winter Lullaby" by Barbara Seuling, "When a Storm Comes Up" by Allan Fowler, and "Bear Snores On" by Karma Wilson. We will be concentrating on generating questions. We need to know the difference between an asking sentence with a question mark and a telling sentence with a period at the end. We will reinforce phoneme isolation. (See November Reading for game ideas) We will review the difference between a letter, a word and a sentence. We will count words in a sentence compared to counting letters in a word. We will use new vocabulary weather words like rainy, sunny, windy, snowy, cloudy and recognize that these are describing words. We will practice sound position by saying a word and asking "where do you hear the sound of ......... Be sure to ask for the beginning, middle and ending sound of words. We will be introducing the words fact and fiction also known as real and unreal and fact and fantasy. We will read a variety of stories and decide which one the book is. |
