What is a B.E.E. Notebook |
||
| The BEE Notebook is a three ring binder that holds everything that your child and you will need to stay in touch with everything that is happening at school and in the classroom. Bringing this notebook home every day and returning it the very next day will help develop organizational skills and responsibility. You will need to set aside a small amount of time to go through the notebook every night with your child and pull out papers that need to stay home and return homework or notes that require your signature. I believe that you will love staying informed and having a system that will keep important things from getting lost through out the house. I will be sending home a contract for you and your child to sign together. The notebooks took many hours to put together and they cost me quite a bit of my own money. If you are in agreement with the contract, please sign and return to school. | ||

|
What will I find in the notebook? |
||
Important Notes
This section is inside the front cover and will be used
to send information that comes from the office and also any important
papers that require your signature. Please check this section daily. |
||
Money/Notes
Please put all notes that need my immediate attention in the zippered
pocket. Such notes might include a change in how to go home, doctors
appointment, written excuse for an absence, etc. From time to time,
you may need to send money to school. If possible, please send lunch
money at least by the week. Other instances might include picture
money or field trips. |
||
Homework Folder
Once I start assigning homework, it will be placed in a folder labeled
homework. When it is finished, put it immediately in the Return side
of the same folder. This will keep you from misplacing it.
Once homework starts, please check this section daily. |
||
Homework Helpers
This section will include an alphabet chart for letter sounds, a letter
chart to show proper formation of letters and numbers, sight word list of
the required words for mastery, shapes and other skills that require
constant repetition in order to master. As the year goes on this
section will have additional sheets. |
||
"Bee" - utiful papers
and Work to be kept at home This section is for finished
artwork and papers that I have graded and am sending home for you to keep.
Have a special section in your home to display your child's papers.
Check this section daily and be sure to pull out the completed work
papers. Don't be alarmed if a few days go by with no completed work
as often I get busy at home and don't get everything graded. Watch
for papers that say Incomplete or "I" at the top. This means that
sufficient time was allowed and your child did not complete the
assignment. |
||
Schedules and
Calendars This section will have pertinent calendars and
schedules in the notebook for your reference. Check this section
occasionally to make sure that there has been no calendar changes.
|
||
Class List
From time to time you may need a list of your child's fellow classmates
and children love to practice writing the names of their friends.
Please do not send birthday invitations to school unless you invite the
whole class. Kindergarten children do not grasp the concept of not
being included and feelings get hurt. |
||
Poetry Journal
Throughout the year we will be working on poetry, rhymes and
songs. Being able to hear words that rhyme and identifying them is
one of the best indicators of becoming a good reader. When poetry
comes home, please read it with your child and leave it in the notebook to
return to school. If your child reads you the poem, be sure to
include it in the Reading Log. When we complete a journal or a
poetry section, I will put it in the folder labeled Keep at Home. |
||
Class Handbook
After you sign the necessary forms in the Pinewood Handbook, you
may leave it in the B.E.E. notebook or you may remove it and refer to my
own handbook called the ABC's of Kindergarten. It will serve as a
reminder of school and classroom procedures. |
||
Reading Log
This section will provide several teacher-made books for you and
your child to read together. As time goes on you will find that your
child will be reading the entire book to you. It is more than
possible to read 100 books, poems, stories etc. by the end of the year.
I have set up a 100 book club membership and encourage each and every
child to reach their goal. Any book that you and your child read
together will count towards the goal. Big brothers and sisters,
grandparents and babysitters can also read to your child and fill in the
log. Simply write the name of the book and author on the log sheet
and sign your name. |
||
"Bee - havior"
This folder will have a weekly behavior report. Please praise good
behavior and discuss any areas that are needing some improvement.
